Remember when you were a child and how your imagination would soar? You’d pretend you were some kind of hero, build a cool fort out of sheets and blankets or outside in the back yard? Then you and perhaps some friends would act out your fantasy. Why did we ever loose it? We had so much fun! I guess over the years, our obligations sort of took it’s place and we had no more time for it any more:-( Well today, and a little bit of time every day, I give you permission to dream and pretend again. Here is a series of questions to help:
1. Imagine that you have your dream car. (for my husband and me it’s a motorcycle) Close your eyes and see it. What color is it? Does it have a V-8 or is it a new “green” car?
2. Imagine your dream house. Is it a huge mansion or just a quaint little cottage nestled away in the woods somewhere?
3. Imagine your daily routine. What are you doing? What kind of work are you doing? Oh! I forgot to mention, you have more than enough money to do whatever you want and enough time to do it.
4. What adventures would you take? Don’t be afraid to dream big. Make it as big or as small as you like…this is YOUR dream after all!
5. Now imagine the people you are sharing all this with. Who are they? What do they act like?
6. How do you feel now that you have everything you want?
7. Now this question…what is the most important thing in your life now that you have your perfect lifestyle?
Seriously now, I want you to answer each of these questions in your mind.
Now write them down and look at your dream once a day at least…mostly right before you go to sleep. Think about it during the day between tasks. Not only is this a “feel good” exercise, it really is good for the soul, good for your mind because you’re using a part of your brain you usually don’t get to use much. There is so much this will do for you…besides having fun. It helps relieve stress and puts you in a better mood…not to mention that it’s beginning to program your mind toward realizing those dreams.
The answer to question 7 is what you focus on when you wonder why you must continue when things go sour. (That happens more often than we want!)
That is your passion.
