How much do you know about the higher faculties?  Below are a series of questions and my personal answers without looking them up to see if they are correct.  This was my own exercise yesterday for personal growth.  Let’s see if we agree.

Question 1:   What do you know about perception and how does one develop it?

Perception – What angle I see things from. can be changed at any time by my will.  Exercise by looking at things from another’s point of view, pros – cons -play Devil’s Advocate.  Use as many as I think I need..

Question 2:   What do you know about memory and how is it developed?

Memory- mental image of something you’ve perceived (seen) through one or more of your 5 senses.   The more senses you’ve used (at the same time), the more time spent on creating the image, the more associations you make concerning this image, the more memorable it becomes.  More neural connections are made.  Average one time impression, 20 seconds in conscious mind but forever in subconscious mind.  Repetition also solidifies memory, causing it to become a long term memory, not just a short one.

Question 3: Is there such a thing as perfect memory?

My answer to this one may surprise you but it’s YES.  Everything I believe is stored in our gray matter somewhere.  The problem many of us have is accessing the memory.  The more neural connections, the more accessible the memory.

Question 4:  What do you know about reason and how does one develop reason?

Logical (or not) formula or pattern for thinking.  Causes, effects, what, where when, who, why, past experience….all using the conscious mind to analyze input to make decision.  Practice developing a thought to it’s end conclusion.or results.  In my opinion, most people don’t “think things through” to the possible conclusion.  This is the type of thinking we are taught to deal in and disregard the intuitive aspect of thinking.

Question 5:  What do you know about intuition and how to develop it?

Intuition is a gut feeling, an “inner voice” where you intangibly just KNOW…at the subconscious level.  Reason is usually not a factor.  When a feeling that you have to act upon something, do it immediately or schedule time to do it and watch the results.  You’re usually right and then you sharpen this skill and use it more regularly for positive results.  This is the 90% of the brain power we possess but seldom use.  It is also the most powerful and creative tool.  It’s sometimes called your 6th sense.

Question 6:   What do you know about imagination and its development?

This is something I have been taught to suppress.  These are your dreams, day dreams of desires or wants…how you would like to experience things through your 5 senses but using your 6th sense instead.   Allow yourself time to let your imagination to soar and DO NOT listen to nay sayers.  I usually keep these thoughts to my self (or just one trusted friend) and just incorporate it where applicable in my decision making.  This is where creativity begins.  Everything starts as a thought here.

Question 7:   What do you know about the will?

This is my God-Given ability to make choices.  The hard part is sticking to these decisions.  Here is an excellent quote I ran across:  “There is never a better measure of what a person is than what he does when he’s absolutely free to choose.” —William M. Bulger, American Educator, Senator

Question 8:   How do you develop the will?

By making deliberate choices and not be wishy-washy about them.  Practice making quick decisions and then sticking to your guns!

How close are we in our answers?  Where do we differ in our opinions?
